Lot 2124

1848. NGC graded MS-61. Light golden toning with luster still evident. A desirable, original coin from the middle No Motto timeframe that boasts mint luster and a fairly decent to sharp strike. This is certainly one of the more elusive dates in Mint condition. The surfaces are cleaner than average for a gold coin of this period, and this piece has obviously seen careful handling since the time it was struck. We note two small marks below the nose that will identify it. If you are a date or Type specialist, or simply someone looking for an historic example for your gold collection, then here is a worthy $10 Eagle to acquire. Pop 11; 11 finer (PCGS # 8599) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.

Realized $5,175
