Lot 1568

1861. PCGS graded AU-55. Some luster still present. With Civil War breaking out early in 1861, bullion deposits to the Philadelphia Mint increased markedly -- compare mintage figures in all the gold denominations to 1860 and before and the increase is obvious. Each depositor had his reason for turning metal into coin (PCGS # 8288) .
Estimated Value $500 - 525.
The William H & Beuelaress K. Helem Collection.

Realized $690
