1858-C NGC graded XF Details. Improperly cleaned. Only 38,856 pieces struck of which merely 750 are estimated to have survived. The small branch mint headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, struck gold coins exclusively in the years it operated, 1838-61. The Civil War caused it to close (PCGS # 8277) .
