1847-C. PCGS graded AU-50. Lightly toned. Only 84,151 minted of which merely 500 examples are estimated to have survived. Three pairs of dies were shipped from Philadelphia to Charlotte in 1847, and at least two obverse variations are known. Although there were some exceptions during the era (perhaps most notable being the 1846 half dollar with 6 over horizontal 6), it was common practice to use a four-digit logotype punch to insert numerals into working dies (PCGS # 8233) .
