Lot 241

1804 C-8 R1 Spiked Chin VF35. At least 5 points sharper but there are some faint hairline scratches on the obverse. The only marks visible without a strong glass are a short, dull scratch under the lowest curl and another near the rim well left of the L in LIBERTY. Glossy chocolate and olive brown with subtle overtones of bluish steel. Both sides retain traces of their original mint luster under the glossy toning. MDS, Manley state 3.0. The obverse dentils are nearly gone and the crack through the top of LIBERTY is clear but not strong. The "Spiked Chin" is obvious. Davy #04.8.3.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex Roger S. Cohen, Jr., FPL 10/17/1972.
