1794 C-4a R3 Liberty Cap, Head Right AG3. Blundered Edge. Small Edge Letters. Sharpness VG10 but the rim is damaged (flattened) before the face and on the opposing area at MERICA. The only other mark is a dent in the dentils under the 94 in the date. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and attractive, void of any notable defects. Glossy chocolate and steel brown. The date is bold and the legends are clear except where affected by the edge damage. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0. The edge lettering is blundered and reads "TWO HUNDREDFOR A DOLLAR". HUNDRED and FOR appear as a single word. Apparently the Castaing machine was not properly reset to the starting (null) position before adding the edge lettering to this planchet. Weight 102.0 grains.
