Lot 2046

1881. NGC graded MS-69. Lovely rich golden toning. Semi-reflective surfaces. Only 7,707 struck. Tied for the Finest Known. An incomparably beautiful Superb Gem Mint State for the connoisseur who demands absolutely the finest obtainable. Note the glowing mint luster throughout which showers the fields and devices in a golden glow, notice also the strong strike and the variegated shades of color. When we magnify the coin to several times its normal appearance we find it nearly impossible to find anything in the way of surface disruption. Neither a nick nor scuff is seen, meaning that this coin is about as near to perfection as humanly possible. Not unique in the grade, this is one of only 3 examples of this date so graded by NGC. Mintage of 10,800 pieces suggests there will be few to follow along in the years to come; it is easy to say that such a glorious Gem will have many admirers among the high-end gold buying public. If your collection demands the absolute finest, then by all means obtain it and put it away. Pop 3; none finer at NGC (PCGS # 7582) .
Estimated Value $10,000 - 12,000.
