Lot 3322

1922 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-65. Lovely gold toning. An example whose rich frosty luster pulsates with an inner energy like atomic fission. For an appreciable time we did not think there were many 1922 Double Eagles in this grade left to consign to sales, that they had all been locked away in collections, then this wonderful consignment came along and greeted us. When it did, the combined leap and shout of our numismatists as they examined the beautiful offerings practically amounted to a 100% stamp of approval for prospective buyers one and all to come to the sale to submit their bids. Pop 1,150; 9 finer (PCGS # 9173) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,700.

Realized $3,105
