1855 N-9 R1. EF-40 Plus. Italic 55 with Knob-on-Ear. Attractive glossy medium brown. Close to EF45 but there are a few tiny nicks on the obverse, including a small, dull nick right of the corner of the eye. Otherwise this piece is absolutely choice for the grade and the eye appeal remains excellent. MDS, die state d. The knob break at the top of the ear is strong and raised well above the level of the surrounding details. A nice example of the popular "Knob-on-Ear" variety, and the strong knob is a big plus. Removed from an ANACS slab graded AU55 (the ANACS label is included, and it shows the attribution).
