1916-S $10 Indian. NGC graded AU-55. Frosty luster. While the rest of the world stopped issuing gold coins after the outbreak of World War I in 1914, the U.S. continued to strike gold through 1916 (we remained on a gold standard throughout the hostilities). After the war ended in 1918, England had lost its status as the world's money center. In its place rose New York's Wall Street since the U.S. had much of the gold, a sound banking system, and was economically strong at the time of the surrender (PCGS # 8880) .
Estimated Value $600 - 650.

Realized $690
