1935 Spanish Trail Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. A popular commemorative half dollar. Frosty gem. The obverse has a punning head of a cow in honor of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca (Cabeza de Vaca being Spanish for "head of a cow"). Nunez explored the Old Spanish Trail region in 1528. The reverse delineates (none to accurately) his path from Florida to El Paso, Texas along with a yucca tree at center, a common regional plant (PCGS # 9376) .
