Lot 1245

1901 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded Proof 65. Light hairlines on obverse. Untoned. Beaming silver color bursts from original surfaces untouched by toning. A strong strike as well, making this a desirable Gem Proof specimen of a very scarce year (Mint States 1901-P dollars are hard to come by). Another first-rate example from a consignor whose offerings show consistently high quality, this 1901 Proof too, displays a precision strike on the legends and main devices, which is unusual for the date, and not even a trace of soft detail at the hair waves. 813 Proofs struck. Pop 39; 38 finer; 23 in 66; 12 in 67; 3 in 68. (PCGS # 7336) .
Estimated Value $3,400 - 3,500.

Realized $5,060
