Lot 1204

1889-CC Morgan Dollar. NGC graded MS-62. Well struck, untoned and frosty. Popular Key Date and always in great demand. 1889-CC is legendary in the Morgan dollar series. All serious collectors have trouble locating a strong example for their date sets. This one is a very choice example of the date. To begin at the beginning, only 350,000 were struck, and precious few were saved in Mint State. It is unknown how many were found in Treasury bags, perhaps not even a full bag since fewer than 550 have been graded in Mint State by PCGS and NGC. Of the ones graded, this is "standard quality" for Mint condition, though lacking the usual prooflike reflection. A magnifying glass will note some contact marks from bag handling, nothing deep or distracting. If your collection requires a solidly graded coin, one that is problem-free, then look no further than this lot and give it the strong bid it deserves. Pop 95; 53 in 63, 41 in 64, 4 in 65, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 7190) .
Estimated Value $15,000 - 17,000.

Realized $24,150
