Lot 8

1794 C-1b R6. Fine-15. Small Edge Letters. Ten points sharper but covered with uniform microscopic roughness. The only verdigris is a tiny patch of very shallow reddish steel crust at the dentils right of Y in LIBERTY, and the only sign of contact is a minor nick on the rim at the E in AMERICA. Dark steel and olive. Nicely struck EDS, Manley state 1.0. The date and legends are complete and clear, and the small edge lettering is bold. In the middle of the condition census for this very rare "B-Girl". Clearly superior to the J. R. Frankenfield, Dr. Wallace Lee, and Michael Spurlock examples, and missing from the Robinson, Weber, and Reiver collections. 103.3 grains.
Estimated Value $8,000 - 10,000.
Obtained 12/2005 by Ray Rouse in a trade with David Consolo, who discovered it unattributed the preceding month.

Realized $8,913
