Lot 70

1805 C-3 R4 Small 5 with Stems. Fine-15. Glossy chocolate brown, the obverse blending to lighter and darker tones giving a delicately mottled appearance on that side. No corrosion or verdigris, only minor contact marks consistent with the grade. The notable marks are a small, light rim bruise over the E in LIBERTY, an even smaller one under the 1 in the date, and a faint hairline scratch over AM in AMERICA. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with strong swelling in the field before the portrait and the reverse rotated 15 degrees CW. An attractive, important example of this rare variety, in the lower half of the condition census. Removed from a PCGS slab graded F15 (PCGS label included, and it mentions the Small 5 with Stems features).
Estimated Value $6,000 - 8,000.
Ex Tom Reynolds 1/2004.

Realized $6,325
