Lot 7

1794 C-1a R3. EF-45 Plus. Large Edge Letters. Very attractive frosty dark chocolate brown with bluish steel overtones. The surfaces are satiny and virtually flawless. No hint of roughness or verdigris. The best identifying mark is a tiny, barely visible rim nick at BE in LIBERTY. A choice early half cent in every respect. Very close to an About Uncirculated grade. Nicely centered LDS, Manley state 3.0, with the reverse rotated 30 degrees CCW. Weight 100.1 grains. Called About Uncirculated in the Breen census, and it is easy to see why.
Estimated Value $6,000 - 8,000.
Ex Joseph Brobston, Stack's FPL 1/63 (where called "Uncirculated and sharply struck")-Stack's 10/17/90:1586-Stack's 5/9/2001:003-Russ Butcher (trade at 2005 EAC Convention).

Realized $18,975
