Lot 3867

1920-D Buffalo Nickel. PCGS graded MS-64. CAC Approved. Nice rainbow toning. A thin die break from R of LIBERTY to the eyebrow; several others noted. An very special and choice D-mint coin that one can use as a yardstick for other examples that share the MS64 grade. While the strike is forthright and crisp in many places, it is only reasonably full on the bison's head, yet without doubt few of the head and shoulder details are left to the imagination. Pop 260; 48 finer, 47 in 65, 1 in 66 (PCGS # 3945) .
Estimated Value $1,900 - 2,100.
The Harpeth Valley Collection.

Realized $3,105
