1882 Hawaiian Haiku Plantation Token. PCGS graded AU-55 Brown. Very scarce; all of the pre-coinage issues by private minters in Hawaii are high on the current popularity lists. The Haiku Sugar Plantation was located on the island of Maui. This issue is undoubtedly one of the best executed and most attractive designs of the 19th century Hawaiian tokens. The leaves at the base of the date are from the taro plant, with sugar cane arching overhead on either side of the legend. Pop 1; 1 in 58; 2 in 62. PCGS has greated only 6 pieces (PCGS # 600518) .
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,200.

Realized $2,128
