Lot 3050

1904-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice untoned example. A well struck, carefully preserved, and lustrous example of this always difficult '04-S issue that has lovely shimmering mint bloom. Struck with exactly the required mathematical precision by the dies in which all areas, not just some, are complete by a highly successful strike. Some might quibble that two of the hair strands above the ear are fused from insufficient pressure, but the overall depth of detail is clearly superior to most in this choice grade. (The scarcity may have been caused by destruction of millions of silver dollars pursuant to the Pittman Act of 1918, in which American silver was converted into bullion bar to be used by Great Britain to stem a money panic in India.) Pop 350; 113 finer; 102 in 65; 9 in 66; 2 in 67. (PCGS # 7294) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.
Ex: The Brentwood Park Estate.

Realized $4,485
