Lot 2428

1877 Indian Head Cent. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Popular key date. Lots of Mint Red on this handsome piece. A radiant specimen of the kind of quality one likes to describe for Indian cent buyer, one of the most actively collected coin designs in American numismatics. Splendid light wood-grain luster blends effortlessly with pale golden brown highlights on the frosted coppery red surfaces. The pressure transmitted from the die to the blank reveals itself in sharp feathers and leaves in the wreath, with the only possible exception being a touch of softness on some of the feather ends. It is not often that collectors visit an auction and get the chance to bid upon such an attractive, uncompromised 1877 Indian cent. Pop 138; 47 finer; 44 in 65; 3 in 66. (PCGS # 2128) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $6,900
