Lot 1996

1776 Continental Dollar in Pewter. EG FECIT type. Newman 3-D Rarity-3. PCGS graded EF-45. Glossy dark steel gray with frosty medium gray toning in protected areas. The only marks are a few small spots of fine tin pest corrosion on both sides, especially at the top of the second T in CONTINENTAL and on the sun right of FUGIO. Nicely struck and well centered showing strong legends all around. Never cleaned or rubbed with traces of loose dirt remaining in protected areas. A very attractive and totally original example of this famous pattern for our first dollar-size coin. Later die state, the reverse die crack through most of the links strong. Struck with the reverse rotated 50 degrees CCW from a head-to-foot orientation.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 15,000.
Ex: The Brentwood Park Estate.

Realized $31,050
