1895 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded Proof 63. Nice even golden toning on the obverse. Mostly untoned on the reverse. Rarest of the key date Proofs in the Morgan series, considered by all to be the King of the Morgan Dollars, this for obvious reasons. Only 880 Proofs were minted. It is from these few that tens of thousands of collectors, if not more, must compete for ownership of the small floating supply of choice coins on the market at any one time.
The coin is, simply put, choice, original, and very attractive. As can be seen in the photographs, it acquired pale original iridescent shades of color in its years spent in the possession of earlier generations of collectors. Faithful to every detail from a full blow by the dies, the hair is crystal clear down to the tiniest hair strands above the ear, and this also includes a resplendent eagle. A small mark on the jaw accounts for the Proof 63 grade and not something finer. Only 880 proofs struck. A proof only year (PCGS # 7330) .
