Lot 944

1867 Indian Head Cent. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. This is another very challenging date and is very similar in rarity to the 1866. This example is a bright gold with areas of a deeper golden color. It is difficult to find any marks on this coin, and for a MS64 grade that is unusual. There are numerous die polishing marks and clash marks, which may be confused with grade limiting marks, but as these do not effect the grade negatively, one must wonder why the MS64 was given. There is a scattering of very minute flyspecks on the reverse, but these are visible only under strong magnification. This is a super example for the date and a worthy coin for the finest Indian Cent collections. Pop 63; 19 finer; 18 in 65; 1 in 66. (PCGS # 2090) .
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,300.
Ex:The "Chiro" Collection. Eagle Eye Photo Seal accompanies this lot.

Realized $2,530
