Lot 3978

1915-S $10 Indian. PCGS graded MS-63. Scarce date in high grade. A radiant example, fully original with dusky gold color that rises and falls in an almost rhythmic display, suggestive of a coin that lay hidden away in an old collector's set for decades. Desirable with this meticulous strike, even though we need to point out some modest signs of weakness in the eagle's wing and forward part of the right leg. The reduced mintage of 59,000 partly explains this coin's rarity in all grades. Pop 27; 19 in 64; 4 in 65; 2 in 66. (PCGS # 8879) .
Estimated Value $11,000 - 12,000.
Frank McCarthy Collection.
