Lot 3871

1908 $5 Indian. PCGS graded Proof 63. Old green holder. Dull matte proof that needs to be sent to NCS. Small mark on both sides. Pop 2; 45 finer. Only 167 Proofs minted, although it is believed not all 167 pieces were distributed, and that some were later melted. This attractive Matte Proof has choice, variegated but still smooth, matte surfaces. There are a couple of tiny scuffs and marks in the hard finish but nothing else in the form of post-striking impairments on either side. Somewhat greenish brown tinted as many 1908 fives, the overall color on this piece is very attractive (PCGS # 8539) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500.

Realized $11,500
