Lot 1995

1900 Lafayette Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66 PQ. The light green to sky blue iridescence will make your eyes roll and you mouth water, if you are anywhere near the point where you want to acquire this silver dollar commemorative for your commemorative Type set or date-and-mintmark complete collection. Something perhaps worth pausing to study is the fact that all devices were struck with outstanding detail, that is, sharply by the dies, which then left behind bold elements of detail throughout. Washington's wig detail couldn't be crisper. And the statue of Lafayette on the reverse (Lafayette is the one sitting in the saddle, no one honors his horse, who history records as nameless), his figure is just as impressive as the device on the obverse. And well it should be, given the outstanding condition of the piece! Pop 85; 5 in 67 none higher at PCGS. (PCGS # 9222) .
Estimated Value $20,000 - 25,000.

Realized $28,750
