Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 34

Lot 1605

1795 Flowing Hair Dollar. 3 leaves beneath each wing. NGC graded EF-40. Very pleasing surfaces all around, with the main fields and areas surrounding the devices smoothly finished with medium antiqe-gray color (some russet brown as well). The high points of the main design on both sides has a lighter silver gray color colloquially described as "rubbed silver" by old time collectors, thereby giving the coin its pleasing contrast. Typical lack of detail in the hair, since this die was known for being in high relief on Liberty. The finest detail failed to strike on even the top-end Mint State survivors.
Estimated Value $8,500 - 9,500.

Realized $9,488
