Lot 1009

1904 $2.50 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-68. Old green holder. Lovely original toning. When compared to other issues in the long-lived Liberty quarter eagle Type, the 1904 is a plentiful coin. Still, the original business strike mintage is a not overly cumbersome at 160,960 pieces, and survivors tend to be rare above the Gem 65 grade level. This is a gorgeous and conditionally rare Super-Gem, not merely a "superb gem" but a Super Gem with pinpoint striking over all features. The surfaces glisten with frothy careening mint bloom and original greenish-gold sheen. Both sides are as expected smooth for the assigned grade. Pop 1; finest graded at PCGS. (PCGS # 7856) .
Estimated Value $18,000 - 19,000.

Realized $19,550
