1818 $5 Capped Head. "STATESOF". PCGS graded MS-64. Now offered for your collecting pleasure is this wonderful 1818 Half Eagle. It is totally original in every way and delivers excellent eye appeal. The strike is superb with every design detail sharp and clear. On the obverse, every line in the stars is visible as is every hair curl and fold of the cap. The eagle feathers are crisp and well defined as are the arrow points and feathers on the reverse. The surfaces are handsomely textured with only a few light contact marks consistent for the grade and issue. Especially attractive is the lovely original toning in beautiful amber honey hues that only 185 years of aging can provide. Miller-124 (Rarity 5+), Breen-2B; the type with STATESOF appearing as one word, and the last star on the right distant from the hair curl. Very rare this choice and worthy of the finest collections of early US gold. Population of only seven, with one in MS-66 as best (PCGS # 8121) .
Estimated Value $45,000 - 55,000.

Realized $58,938
