1795 $5 Capped Bust. Small eagle. NGC graded AU-55. A well struck example of our first gold coin. Struck in rich yellow gold with deeper orange highlights and traces of mint luster still present. A few minor hairline scratches, barley noticeable under magnification are noted and overall a most desirable example of this coveted type coin. The variety with the Y in LIBERTY crowding the star and four berries in the wreath. Always in great demand. NGC reports 37 in this grade with 106 better (PCGS # 8066) .
