Lot 2696

Rare 1924-D $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. Light golden coloration with rose and olive highlights. A few lights spots of film on the obverse near the central device. The central portion of this coin is well struck but the lower obverse at 6:00 shows weakness, a characteristic that David Akers described resulted from die deterioration. The fields have no evidence of wipe or mishandling and the entire appearance of the coin is that of a higher grade. There is one diagonal nick in the center of Liberty just above her left knee. PCGS has graded 110 in MS-63, 124 in MS64, 3 in MS-65 and 1 in MS-66 (PCGS # 9178) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $6,325
