Lot 2644

1913-S $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. A scarce issue that can be misleading with regards to rarity due to its tiny mintage of only 34,000. While the '13-S does have one of the smallest mintages of the Saint Gaudens double eagles, it is more common than some of the multi-million mintage issues from the 1920's-1930's that experienced heavy melting. It is significantly more rare than other San Francisco issues of this time frame, for example the 1915 and 1916 issues. The present piece is very choice and displays silky gold surfaces with nice luster (PCGS # 9163) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

Realized $3,335
