Lot 2378

1894-S $10 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. The 1894-S is the rarest eagle from San Francisco during the 1890's with regards to total population known and high grade rarity. Only 25,000 eagles were produced this year, the lowest mintage for any eagle from San Francisco during the 1890's. Examples very rarely come finer than the present grade and PCGS has graded only 2 MS-62 specimens as the finest known! All correctly graded mint state examples are rare and undervalued in the context of other known gold rarities. This beautiful example has satiny and clean surfaces, a great strike and the eye appeal of a MS-62 coin. PCGS has graded 3 in MS-61 and 2 in MS-62 (PCGS # 8731) .
Estimated Value $2,700 - 3,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
