1914-S $5 Gold Indian. PCGS graded MS-62. A very choice example of a 1914-S Indian half eagle. When David Akers researched United States 20th century gold coins, he noted that generally the 1914-S comes granular and lacking luster. Furthermore, he went on to state "A very few specimens, however, have a somewhat satiny look and excellent luster that compares favorably to a nice 1910-S, for example". The present piece possesses this satiny and radiant luster and we feel it is an excellent opportunity for one to acquire a choice example of this issue. A small die crack starts at the beginning of the recessed truncation and continues to the 4th star. A very low population coin in choice mint state and one that becomes seriously rare above MS-62. PCGS has graded 123 in MS-62, 13 in MS-63 and 8 in MS-64 (PCGS # 8529) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 2,800.

Realized $6,325
