1856-S $3 Gold. PCGS graded AU-53 PQ. Lovely light golden coloration with hints of orange toning. Lustrous fields and devices and only the slightest of hairlines. Medium S variety. There are no jarring marks or scratches of any significance. All San Francisco Mint three dollar gold issues are scarce and seldom found with eye appeal this sharp. PCGS has graded 16 in AU-53 with only 58 finer (PCGS # 7975) .
