Lot 1222

1839-O Capped Bust Half Dollar. PCGS graded AU-55 PQ. A satiny example boasting superb originality. Light champagne toning has settled into the periphery. This example was well struck and we note no weakness or wear on the hair above the ear or the wing/neck feathers on the eagle. Radial luster is thick and uninterrupted. A network of fine die cracks concentrically around the periphery of the obverse die. Additional die cracks are found in the letters of the reverse and showing the late state of this reverse die. A nice type coin and a very choice example. PCGS population of 12 in AU55 with only 45 finer (PCGS # 6181) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,300.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
