Lot 1213

1832 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Large letters. PCGS graded AU-58 Struck Thru Reverse Before Strike. Often times, this type of error is seen with the strike thru occurring during the striking of the obverse and reverse dies. This example had the strike thru occur at the time the actual planchet was produced. Therefore, the impression itself is a little more dull in appearance while the actual die detail over the impression is full. If the strike thru had occurred during the production of the actual coin, the foreign object would have "erased" the detail in the corresponding area of the coin design. A white and original example with lots of eye appeal in addition to its intriguing error status (PCGS # 6161) .
Estimated Value $350 - 400.

Realized $518
