Lot 1053

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime. . LM-8, V-5, Rarity-3. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. Blast white surfaces shadowed by gorgeous, vivid golden and iridescent toning. In such a pristine condition that gem quality luster swirls across the obverse and reverse. Magnification is required to see the faintest hairlines in the obverse fields and not a mark can be found that is intrusive or disturbing. This variety is categorized by a small die crack beginning at the border above the Y of LIBERTY and continuing down through Liberty's device, ending on the neck just above the date. This fine die crack is easily observable on this specimen. The reverse has the typical strike weakness in the feathers of the eagle's wings and on the breast. Delicate die lines are still in perfect condition on either side of the eagle's neck. The technical quality of the reverse is "superb" with not a single r hairline scratch mentionable. Undoubtedly one of the finer examples of this variety in existence and one of the finest Flowing Hair half dimes we have seen in quite some time. PCGS population of 18 in MS-64, 8 in MS-65, 6 in MS-66 and 3 in MS-67. A.

(PCGS # 4251) .
Estimated Value $15,000 - 18,000.
