Draped Bust Dollar. 1800 B-12. PCGS graded AU-50 PQ. Original light pinot red and golden toning blend together under smooth charcoal surfaces on this beautiful and PQ Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle bust dollar. While a mixture of strike weakness and wear do exist in some parts of the hair and eagle's wings (as expected) this piece has above average cheek definition. This coin was spared any jarring marks or nicks and the only incidence of scratches occurs just under the I of UNITED on the reverse. The diagnostic die dots in the lower E of UNITED and the left side of E in AMERICA are clear.
Bust dollars seem to just continually keep growing in popularity and the occurrence of a nice fresh, attractive original coin has become scarce. The present specimen provides a fantastic opportunity to acquire a PQ and gorgeous bust dollar (PCGS # 6887) .
