Lot 1754

$10 Gold Indian. 1908-S. With motto. PCGS graded MS-67. Extraordinary luster over finely granular surfaces possessing a frosty sheen. An issue that is seen sharply struck, but this piece seems to take it a notch higher. Seldom does one see fine metal flow lines on these eagles but the present gem has them near the borders. Pale olive hues are found on both the obverse and reverse and a there is a patch of light yellow-green toning at the tips of the first three feathers of the headdress. Only 35 coins have ever been graded this superior by PCGS for the entire With Motto Indian Head eagle series. For the 1908-S, 7 supposedly exist in MS67 with 4 MS68 examples as the finest. For the individual attempting to build one of the finest type sets, this delicately balanced beauty would be an outstanding choice (PCGS # 886) .
Estimated Value $30,000 - 40,000.

Realized $29,900
