Morgan Dollar. 1895-O. PCGS graded MS-61. An impressively choice example of this key date to the Morgan Dollar Series! An undipped piece with thick, swirling luster. Finely granular fields have a few random abrasions but seem choice for the grade of MS61. A bit of soft lavender toning is settling into the borders, enhancing the originality of this coin even more. A thin vertical scratch exists at the back of the cheek. Strike is minimally weak above the ear and on the eagle's breast and we feel the strike is above average for this issue. Reverse quality is just as fine with uninterrupted surfaces and superb luster. Small patches of sky blue toning seen under each of the eagle's wings. A very frosty appearance with whispers of champagne and magenta toning.
The New Orleans mint struck only 450,000 dollars in 1895 and survivors in true uncirculated condition are very rare! A seriously undervalued Morgan Dollar issue and one that has always been scarce and tough to find. We are sure this extremely solid example will end up in a fine collection. PCGS has graded 22 in MS61 with only 57 finer (PCGS # 7236) .
Estimated Value $12,000 - 14,000.

Realized $14,950
