Lot 25

1804 C-1 R3 EF40. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with mint frost covering the fields and protected areas on both sides. An absolutely choice half cent except for a strong rim nick off the bust tip and a trail of tiny ticks in the field over the bust. Otherwise this cent is flawless and has just a touch of friction on the highpoints of the devices. MDS, Manley state 1.0 late, with a die crack arcing down through the right side of the second T in STATES through the wreath to the right side of the M in AMERICA. The crack is strong and the field at ES is just starting to rise. This is the Breen plate coin for his die state IV and it is plated in the Eckberg reference on half cents. Comes with a nice provenance. Estimated Value $2,000 - UP
