Lot 1203

1855-C. NGC graded AU-58. Nice golden toning with glorious surfaces that show no disturbances from very brief circulation. The strike is bold on Liberty's headdress as well as her flowing curls below. Her cheek is clean too, with no marks to distract the eye. These early Charlotte gold coins are quite rare, and almost never found in high grades like this. Their mintages are low, and survivors are few and far between. Hence, when a near mint state example like this crosses our desk, it deserves a lot of attention! So don't miss out if you love elegant and rare high grade classic gold rarities. Very popular Type 2 "C" Mint Gold Dollar. Only 9,803 struck. Pop 37; 18 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7533) Estimated Value $10,000 - UP
