Lot 404

1794 C-1a Large Edge Letters R3. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. Sharpness near mint state but there are a few spots of very fine carbon on the obverse and a rim bruise right of the fraction. Otherwise there are only a few small contact marks and the surfaces are smooth. The color is choice frosty medium brown and light chocolate. LDS, Manley state 3.0, with obvious die clashmarks on both sides. A sharply struck half cent that has excellent eye appeal. And it comes with a nice provenance traced back to a famous collection that was sold over a century ago. Graded "About Uncirculated" by Walter Breen; the fifth example listed in the condition census published in the Breen Half Cent Encyclopedia. Our grade is EF45+. The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 62, 1 in 63, 1 in 64+. (PCGS # 35018) Value $10,000 - UP
