Lot 795

1797. 16 stars. PCGS graded MS-62. Well struck and nicely toned with fiery golden and lemon flashes primarily in the fiels, while the devices are silver with golden-yellow accents. The strike is sharp, right down to the eagle's breast which shows partial feathers. Liberty's ample curls are all present and well defined. Excellent surfaces and strong appeal when held in hand. All known examples show the minor die crack over the date. A condition rarity and one of impressive quality for any numismatist. Several of the obverse stars show minor repunching, attesting to the hand engraved nature of these early dies. Only 25,261 struck. Pop 4; 4 finer, 1 in 64, 1 in 65, 2 in 66. (PCGS # 4462) Estimate Value $27,000 - 29,000

Realized $30,000
