Lot 521

1883-S. PCGS graded MS-65. Well struck with lovely greenish gold toning on both sides over abundant mint frost and luster. The strike is sharp on all devices, and what makes this coin so special is the quality of the surfaces. They are truly amazing, and are clearly of gem quality. The gem level is nearly unheard of for this date and mint, as no more than a few dozen exist that are at this grade or finer. Considering how many Morgan dollar collectors are out there, all seeking as nice a coin as they can find, this gem will always stand tall as one of the toughest dates and mints to acquire at the gem grade. If you have an advanced collection, then make sure to view this coin before the auction and be prepared to battle it out to win this exceptional specimen. Prices are all over the map for historic offerings of an 1883-S in gem, so what it will bring won't be known until the underbidder gives up at this auction. Pop 19; 6 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7148) Estimate Value $28,000 - 30,000
