Lot 293

1925-D. NGC graded MS-66. This date and mint are notorious for poor strikes, this one is much better than commonly seen. There is a full horn on the bison, and well defined eye. Even the tail shows the split portion on the hip. Minor die erosion is noted near the rims and around the mintmark, as nearly always seen. The surfaces are splendid, with satin mint luster throughout and no signs of contact or specks to distract the eye. All in all, an incredible coin that is unsurpassed by any others certified today. Destined for an advanced Buffalo nickel collection. Lovely lilac toning on both sides. Pop 13; tied for the finest examples graded at both services. Estimate Value $8,000 - 9,000

Realized $12,600
