Lot 2151

1852 Moffat & Co. (San Francisco) TEN DOLS. PCGS graded MS-60. Pop 3; 5 finer, 2 in 61, 3 in 62. Mostly untoned with luster visible in the fields. The strike is decent, and the surfaces are pleasing for the modest grade. Gold coinage was in high demand in 1852, not many coins were available and Moffat Co., did their best to fill the huge void. Most of these coins were melted by the mid 1850s, but some, like this one, did survive, to record the tumultuous early years of the Gold Rush in California. An historic and desirable relic from the early, heady days of this famed era (PCGS # 10187) Estimate Value $17,000 - 19,000

Unsold
