1842-C. Small date. PCGS graded Very Fine Details. Lightly toned and a nice looking coin. This is the rarests collectible Charlotte gold half eagle. They were probably struck first in the year, followed by the Large Date pieces. It is believed that 4,595 pieces were struck of which perhaps 110 exist today. Natually collector demand is quite high when one of these turns up. Modest wear on the high points, and the surfaces are smoother than often encountered.
