1871 Pattern Silver Dollar. Silver, plain edge. Judd-1146. Pollock-1288. Low Rarity 7. PCGS graded Proof 65. CAC. Indian Princess design. The reverse is the regular dollar reverse. Boldly struck with wonderful blue toning. The obverse shows a seated figure of Liberty, right hand supporting a pole with cap, she wears the headdress seen on the gold dollar and Three-dolar gold coins of this era. Her left hand rests on a globe which is inscribed LIBERTY in raised letters. Behind her are flags. Stars surround her and the date is below. For the reverse the regular silver dollar die was used. A fantastic example of this popular pattern issue, not only for the designs, but the quality is exceptional. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS. Tied for the finest examples graded at both services.
